Coconut Bowl Bird Feeder

Hey there nature lovers!

Today, I want to share with you a fun and eco-friendly DIY project that will not only bring more birds to your yard but also add a touch of whimsy to your outdoor space.

It’s the Coconut Bowl Bird Feeder!

You might be wondering, “What’s a coconut bowl bird feeder?” Well, it’s exactly what it sounds like – a bird feeder made out of a coconut shell. Not only is it a creative way to repurpose a natural material, but it’s also a great way to attract beautiful birds to your garden or balcony.

So, let’s get started on this easy and enjoyable project!

Materials you’ll need:

1. A coconut shell – You can either use a whole coconut and cut it in half, or you can purchase pre-cut coconut bowls from your local craft store.
2. Strong twine or rope – This will be used to hang your bird feeder.
3. Birdseed – To attract our feathered friends, of course!
4. A small wooden dowel or stick – This will serve as a perch for the birds to land on while they feed.
5. A drill with a small drill bit – This will be used to create holes for the twine and perch.

Instructions:

1. First, you’ll want to drill two small holes near the top of the coconut shell, directly across from each other. This is where you’ll thread your twine through to hang the feeder. Make sure the holes are big enough to accommodate the thickness of your twine.
2. Next, drill two smaller holes just below the larger holes. These holes will be for the perch, so make sure they are directly across from each other as well.
3. Once you have your holes drilled, cut a length of twine or rope and thread it through the top holes. Tie a knot at the end to secure it, making sure it’s long enough to hang from a tree branch or hook.
4. Now, take your wooden dowel or stick and cut it to the desired length for the perch. Then, thread it through the smaller holes you drilled earlier, making sure it’s secure and level.
5. Fill your coconut bowl with birdseed, making sure not to overfill it. You want the seed to be easily accessible to the birds.
6. Finally, find a nice spot in your yard or on your balcony to hang your new bird feeder. Make sure it’s in a location where you can easily watch the birds come and go.

And there you have it – your very own Coconut Bowl Bird Feeder! Not only is it a charming addition to your outdoor space, but it’s also a great way to give back to nature by providing food for our feathered friends.

So, why not give this simple DIY project a try? It’s a wonderful way to connect with nature and enjoy the beauty of the birds that will soon be flocking to your yard.

I hope you have as much fun making and using this bird feeder as I did.

Happy birdwatching!
