Chia Fresca

All you really need for this recipe are chia seeds, water, and fresh lemon juice. I love these chia seeds, but any brand will work.
You can mix in chia seeds with any of these agua fresca recipes for a refreshing, fruity, and hydrating drink!
Alternatively, you can add slices of fresh fruits and veggies (such as oranges, strawberries, or cucumbers) to make fruit infused waters.

You Will Need:

Coconut Water

Use coconut water instead of plain water.
It adds a great flavor as well as a lot of other health benefits like natural electrolytes for extra hydration.
A great source of healthy fats, which will keep you subtly full in between meals.

Chia Seed Water

No Coconut Water? Normal tap or bottled water is just fine.

Lemon

Use fresh lemon juice rather than bottled for a hit of vitamin C.
You can also use lime juice.
Be sure to stir the seeds well when you add them to the water.
The seeds will settle to the bottom and float to the top, so stir them really well so that they plump up evenly.

Honey

I like to use honey for a natural sweetener, but you can skip this if you’d prefer it unsweetened.
*Make this drink vegan by using maple syrup instead of honey.*
You only need a tablespoon of chia seeds per drink to gain a lot of health benefits!

HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN CHIA FRESCA

1. Add the chia seeds to water.
2. Stir well and let sit.
When you see separate and clumping after a few minutes, stir again.
3. Pour in the honey.
4. Then, pour in the lemon juice.
5. Stir to combine one more time.
There should be no clumping left.
